Intumescent Fire Retardant Paint

Article Published on July 2, 2019

Intumescent fire retardant paints are used on exposed wood and foam surfaces. The paint is applied at two coats and will give you a class “A”, “B” or “C” rating. Class “A” rated products provide a 30 min rating. Intumescent coatings, in the presence of heat or flame will puff up(intumeses)and provide a thick foam like layer. You can use a color or clear coat depending on your needs. Federal, local and state Fire Marshall offices typically require a coatings inspector to be present during the application and provide a final approval letter. The coating inspector will verify the proper prep work is done, proper primer if needed and the required number of coats to meet the fire rating specified. Flame Control Coatings manufactures several products to meet your needs to include No. 20-20A, No 50-50A and No.133A. These coatings comply with local, state and federal fire code requirements. Coatings are also available for spray foam insulation. Please contact Sykes QC Services for all your paint and coating inspection needs.
